I don't get it either. Especially the doctors like the one you describe. My father was a doctor ('54-'84) and I know he wouldn't have just taken some gov/corporate/media line and used it in his practice without doing extensive research within the medical community.

Most doctors just want to avoid controversy and go with consensus. Even if it’s total BS. They don’t want to make waves or call attention to themselves.
