When I first saw that sweet, young, blond hair 11-year-old kid in the U of W library with his stack of books, I told him, “he was going to go far in his life.” Little did I know he would go as far as he did. His friendship with computer whiz Paul Allen, took him far. Little kids, as sweet as they look, can go out of control. In this case, it was beyond what a sweet kid could control. He went way beyond what he created in the U of W computer lab. As much as he and Paul Allen learned about computers and, on to the modern world of computers, he never learned the guardrails that tie a civilization down to humanity. To him, it seems, he was stuck in digital code and how many bits it took to describe his world.
Gates also learned that there’s a sucker born every minute.
