I suspect that when you select text the text and background are "XOR"ed identically, so there is no contrast. What is the background color on your iPhone?
How does this work?(A whiter shade of pale)

END OF SOLUTION
I’m sure I selected the right area.
The background on my iPhone is the default white.
I experimented with a few different browsers and brightness settings.
Later, I’ll try it on my HP desktop, which runs Windows.
I would not be the least bit surprised if has to do with Apple technology - they always have to go everything different than everyone else. For example, the iPhone won’t let me use that cool “screen mirroring” technology where whatever is happening on your mobile phone can be mirrored on your smart tv or ROKU via wifi.
My kids that have androids can all do it, but Apple only lets you do it or you buy an Apple TV. There’s a million examples of that - I only have an Apple iPhone because my wife does.
Anyway, I didn’t mean to make a big deal out of this - I was just curious..
Besides, I don’t read the comments until I’ve already solved the cryptogram, so it isn’t a problem for me either way.
