I like 6.5 but I'm way too far invested in .308 at this point to justify making the switch. I have an Armalite AR10 with the 24" barrel in .308 and it too is a tack driver. I shot this at just under 100 yards using, IIRC, 42 grains of Varget, a 168 grain VMAX, and FLR Lake City once fired brass using Forster dies at all stages. I shot several of them that day but I only recovered two and I can't find either of them.

That’s some fine shooting there! I love my 12.5” 308 it’s light and handy in bear country wear it Rhodesia sling style three point across the chest hands free hanging. 220 gr woodleigh steel jacket round nose at just under 1800 fps will penetrate and exist a bruin from any angle and stem to stern face on. I also have a 16” 308 upper that was my stand gun until that little 6.5 grendal stole my heart. Most Texas deer are sub 200lbs and the 6.5 140gr8 knocks flat right where they stand usually if I neck shootem. I always aim for the high neck shot break the spine they drop like a sack of taters.
