Oopsy! Again. Twitter sure makes a lot of mistakes.
Having a monopoly gives you power. In the days when Mexico was a one party state, the Mexican Government did not censor the newspapers. Officially. But a state corporation was by law the sole supplier of newsprint paper. A publisher who irked the ruling PRI would find that his order of rolls of newsprint paper had been "mislaid" or "accidentally" filled with paper that did not fit his presses, or that the truck driver delivering it "forgot" to put a tarp over the back of his truck, and the entire order was ruined by rain.
Publishers who learned to calibrate their criticism of PRI policies, mismanagement and corruption, stayed in business. Those who did not were bankrupted. The same dynamic is playing out here.
