I could not agree with you more, 17strings. This phenomenon is what I was referring to, when speaking of SOME Country artists’ lousy phrasing. (Mind, I was not referring to ALL of them) You’ve simply described it better than I did.

But I would also be remiss if I did NOT reiterate my charge regarding singers who sing nasally.

Singing through the nose is simply not pretty. Nor is this technic welcome to ears far more accustomed to trained voices.. Sinatra had a trained voice. Most serious vocalists, even Jazz vocalists have trained voices. BUT some country singers truly need to go to the woodshed in regard to Training and PRACTICE.

And, that’s all I have to say on that subject, to end the Opera Slide. ;>)
