Noah Webster; Civic Duty and our current Border Crisis

In discussion regarding the political process of America, Noah Webster stated in part:

"...if the citizens neglect their Duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted; laws will be made, not for the public good so much as for selfish or local purposes; corrupt or incompetent men will be appointed to execute the Laws; the public revenues will be squandered on unworthy men; and the rights of the citizen will be violated or disregarded.”

We all know of the commonly available English dictionary written by Noah Webster. He sought to make the English language definable, he studied the Greek and Latin origins of many of our words. In his efforts to better and more uniformly educate Americans, he published blue books for children that became solid foundations for education in 18th and 19th century America. Webster also stated that: “education is useless without the Bible. The Bible was America's basic text book in all fields. God's Word, contained in the Bible, has furnished all necessary rules to direct our conduct.” God gave us the language that would touch our hearts with our need and our salvation, it could be summoned up by being covered with the blood of His Son Jesus Christ in restoration to the Father.

Looking back at Websters' warning regarding the likely result of neglecting our civic duty and how what was recently a well resolved problem concerning illegal entry into our country, especially at our southern borders, has become a national security and humanitarian crisis of not before seen proportions. My heart hurts for the children who are being left unaccompanied at the border. They are prey for sex traffickers and exploitation by all sorts of criminal actors.

God commands parents to train their children, to love them, to protect them and to be the shield between them and the world. Parents have a great responsibility to teach their children how to live as civil people in the world. While these children may be orphans or are being used as leverage for other adults to illegal gain entry into the US, they are probably the most at-risk people involved.

Closer to home, my husband built a lemonade stand for our pre-teen granddaughters for them to sell their products in front of their house with adult supervision. It has been a good work-ethic lesson for them to have the satisfaction of earning their spending money and being exposed to their customers and even being stiffed by adults who bought a refreshing drink only to not return with payment as promised. Regarding the current newly manufactured Biden/Democrat border crisis, I had to explain what was happening, why, and how it might even effect their safety.

When you think of the definition of weakness our current administration quickly comes to mind. By stating in so many words that illegal entry into the US was to be allowed and even encouraged by then candidate Biden and basically stated in general in the Democrat Platform, this administration has created a vacuum, a magnet that encourages acts in direct violation of US law. These actions and the resultant wave of un-screened and uncontrolled entry of non-lawful aliens into the US is exposing the people of the US to more diseases, including an estimated 25% or more Covid-19 positives of the some 400,000 illegals already here since January. Iranian and other foreign terrorists have been caught as well. The drug cartels use these conditions as they did before President Trump virtually shut them down and drug smuggling and human trafficking is again on the rise, more like a tidal wave.

If these are the actions of a sensible and reasonable democrat agenda and administration, we would hate to what a truly leftist agenda would produce! Positive action is necessary whether by God or the good people of America who know the need is so great and the risk so terrible to get this situation under control as soon as possible. As Mr. Webster stated, we cannot neglect our civic duty and expect a good outcome.

As thoughtful, loving and caring Americans, we need to stand together to preserve the rule of law, the right to life, from the unborn to the living and breathing, to care for each other and to be charitable and welcoming to lawful migrants.

We need to exercise our ability to communicate and to touch one another with words of love and validate a persons existence with worth and value. It is the duty of mankind to imitate their existence with their Creators' Love which defines all we are made of, love of God and for one another under the rule of law written not only on stone and statutes but in our hearts is what makes us civilized; a society that has learned from the past mistakes of a war torn world. Start by loving God and loving yourself and then loving the people around you.
