I think people are conflating two issues here:
1) 2nd amendment - the government banning certain weapons...
2) Restrictions for types of weapons used during hunting seasons...
I think it is legitimate to have local restrictions for certain areas and certain seasons where only certain weapons may be used - in order to improve the sport.
You see this in any sport - pool for example. A league may ban jump cues or certain tips - it isn’t the government limiting your access to certain equipment - it is an attempt to keep a particular sport category competitive.
If high powered crossbows are allowed in bowhunting season - use of a vertical bow will become a lost art.
I doubt that. I fail to see how a high tech crossbow is all that different from a vertical reflex bow with multiple pulleys. None of them were what my English forebears used to skewer the French knights.
