I was an active duty Army officer from 1974-79. I never mention that I am a veteran because there was no large armed conflict going on anywhere in the world.
However, I am proud to have served.
I'll wager that if you had been ordered into harm's way you would have served honorably.I served while there *was* a large armed conflict in progress but for some reason one or more Personnel Specialists/Officers chose not to put me on a plane to SE Asia.Of course I never claim to be a combat veteran...doing so would despicably dishonor those who are. And you've never made such a claim either.
