How about when the hand is moving and the microphone is not? How does a moving hand that is behind the microphone show in front of the microphone?

Look at the sequence at the 11 second mark when Biden is gesturing downward with a pointed finger on his right hand. How is this hand visible behind the microphone that has been relatively stable in the view?

I would offer a different explanation for this video - from the side:

Yes, the covers on these mics can be rather large... this one appears to be about the size of an eggplant..

If this had been the only view of the scene, nobody would be saying the scene was faked. The size of the mufflers on these boom microphones in this side shot would not have been enough to start this conspiracy theory.

It isn’t only motion which causes weird compression artifacts in video - soft borders (blurry edges) and non-homogenous textures can cause an area to be selectively compressed - causing it to be temporarily “disappear” - and other pixels selected for the image...

That didn’t happen in the side view.. in the side view, the hand really is closer to the camera than that rather large microphone cover.
