She was pregnant and had the baby by csection. Then there is the immediate post op and post natal changes. Those in combination are hard on the body as it is, especially when the unfortunate woman was sick with a serious virus. Even a normal post natal course involves fluxes in fluid balance and hormones, including the lactation mechanisms. A lot of water weight to be lost and changes in iron levels and a higher risk for blood clots and coagulopathies...that’s just for normal post natal courses. Throw in covid 19 with respiratory failure and some poor woman is apt to be in deep trouble.
