Do you have any idea how controlled live frag hand grenades are? There is about as much chance of finding one in some thugs drawer as there would be of finding a 5000 pound laser guided bomb in his trunk. It’s not going to happen. ~~~~~~~~~~~ I don’t agree. WE have a border over which flows tons of drugs, child trafficking victims, illegals etc. A handgrenade would be nothing.“.

If you believe a military frag grenade would be nothing then again you clearly don’t understand how tightly controlled they are. The chances a police officer will ever see one is statistically ZERO.

When I read this story right here on FR I knew without any additional information there was no live grenade involved and I was correct. What was found was a stun device which is not even close to the same thing and they are charging him as if he had a real explosive hand grenade and reported it as such. We call that LYING.

You guessed correctly. You ruled out the capacity for foreign grenades to be smuggled into the US over the borders. If the borders flow with illegals and weapons and drugs, foreign grenades can get through.

Besides, there are domestic grenades unaccounted for. A quick search turned up grenade stories and sadly, this fatality reported 1/12/2021:

(CNN)”A 12-year-old in Virginia was killed by an exploding grenade investigators believe was bought from an antique mall in North Carolina, and now authorities are warning others may have been sold and could be live.”

https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/12/us/grenade-atf-child-death-trnd/index.html

So congratulations on guessing right, but don’t expect me to simply ignore anything published because grenades are ‘hard to get’.

It all seems a bit weird. His indictment wasn't published, probably to protect informants or UC's. He was unarmed and there was no weapon found at the scene, just a few rounds and magazines. There was supposed to be an investigation of the shooting, but nothing ever came of it. “.

Yup this is typical BATFE / FBI shenanigans. They don’t have anything to charge him with so they just make shit up. I’ll tell you something else don’t be surprised if this guy says he did not own that stingball. It’s quite possible when no weapon was found at the scene then suddenly a contraband stingball magically appeared. Keep in mind these are devices used almost exclusively by law enforcement such as the BATFE.

I did not guess. I know what I’m talking about and I know the how to interpret the BS that comes out of the BATFE.

It was a “Sting-Ball Grenade”. Lets combine a flashbang with rubber bullets and CS! Probably not fun to be in the room with, but convicting him for “illegal possession of a destructive device” seems quite a stretch. I know, he’s a scumbag and we should cheer his conviction, but...“

I know what you mean. We want to believe these agents did a good thing by getting this guy and maybe they did. The problem is these federal agencies both the BATFE and the FBI have been caught lying and breaking the law so many times and so often that we just can’t trust them. The BATFE are responsible for fast and furious. This was not a botched plan, it was a crime of the highest order that resulted in the needless deaths of many mexican citizens and one federal agent. This is just one of many examples.

"You ruled out the capacity for foreign grenades to be smuggled into the US over the borders. If the borders flow with illegals and weapons and drugs, foreign grenades can get through."

I know this sounds like something that could happen very easily but it isn't. Let me give you something to think about that will help you understand how I knew instinctively there was no live military grenade involved.

If you are a FR regular then you know about the fast and furious scandal. What the BATFE did was they secretly had a legitimate US gun dealer sell guns to KNOWN drug cartel people. Hundreds of guns, which included many semi auto rifles. They did this so that sometime later the feds could "recover" crime scene weapons that they then could claim were sold by US gun dealers. This would be used to generate support for the Obama gun control agenda. The only problem is innocent people died and the BATFE got caught red handed. Now the whole point of me telling you this stuff most of which you probably knew already is this. Ask yourself, if very well financed Mexican drug cartel members could get their hands on actual military weapons such as full auto assault rifles and live hand grenades, why would they have bothered to come into the US to buy civilian semi auto weapons from a US gun dealer?

The answer is simple. Even in Mexico military weapons are very very difficult to get their hands on. Close to impossible actually. That's why they came here and bought US civilian firearms. So while it's theoretically possible that live military grenades could come into the country it's very very unlikely. Even corrupt countries governments keep very tight control on their military hardware as selling or releasing them to the wrong hands leads right back to the source. So your concern while possible is still at this time highly unlikely.

Obama gave China a proprietary port (probably a place to dock in a port) in Florida, and one in Long Beach. US Customs were not permitted on the premises and basically had no control over what came in or what came out. How might our enemy use that to their advantage?

Trump canceled the deal and China lost it’s private US ports, but I have to wonder how large/how much equipment they brought in.
Customs has intercepted large quantities of hardware to convert semi-automatic weapons to automatic. I believe China could, during its lovely stay, imported everything and anything its heart desired, including rocket launchers.

We keep having influxes of “caravans” from the south which contain trained men of fighting age from Somalia and South America. I have no idea what they came in with or what was manufactured for them.

I understand you have expertise I don’t have. However, I remain convinced that we don’t know what is or isn’t getting into the country. The art world allows the shipping of works of art through diplomatic channels. It’s believed weapons, drugs and children are shipped this way. A grenade would not be a problem. That’s my unpopular opinion. I appreciate the time you spent responding - I wish I could agree.

That link I sent you was a kid dying from handling a grenade sold at an auction - it didn’t even have to come into the country.
