we spend 5 TIMES as much as Russia and China combined on out military
I know that is the number but does it show the disparity in payrolls?
That aside, check out the movie Pentagon Wars for an old eye opener on who things cost as much as they do IMO. Mission creep is part of it but another part of it is post government employment planning.
You don’t need to tell me, I know what the deal is. Russia came out of the Cold War with their nukes intact and has modernized EVERYTHING since then, and China now has a larger economy than we do, and who really knows what China spends and what they’re getting for it, other than it’s FAR MORE than what we get, far more (they’re outbuilding us on navy ships, 5 to 1 now).
I just do my posting as sarcasm, trying to leave as many clues as possible - because I’ve heard that same argument here, on FR, that our ‘much higher’ military spending assures us of victory and we have ‘nothing to worry about’. And they do have a point, after all we spent far more than our enemies in Vietnam and, oh, never mind...
