The 2021 Academy Awards are officially the most diverse yet with a record-breaking number of actors of color being nominated and two female directors receiving nods for the first time.
A total of nine actors of color have been nominated this year, including Steven Yeun, who is now the first Asian American to receive a nod in the best actor category for his work in Minari.
It is also the first time two female directors have ever been nominated in the best director category, with Chloé Zhao (Nomadland) and Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) both receiving nods. Only five women have ever been nominated in the category before.

I see that Hollywood has seen fit to nominate a movie about the terrorists who orchestrated the 1968 DNC Chicago riots and celebrate their actions.
The “diversity” crowd totally f*&^s over Asian Americans with their “affirmative action” policies against them in education and hiring, and then trots them out as “diverse” from time to time....

I’m sure every movie and actor for the last 5 or so years sounds completely foreign to me. I’ve completely unplugged, to my great advantage.
I cannot bear to watch, I’m fearful that not all Oscar winners will be Black, and that’s just not woke enough and proves systemic racism and will fortify the argument for reparations NOW.
Like anyone with any sense is going to watch this same old left wing crap from hollyweird. Always forcing their leftist agenda in our faces and in the wrong business.

You’re not kidding. I have not heard of almost any of these films. Only two - ‘The United States vs. Billie Holiday’ and ‘Hillbilly Elegy’ - are known to me.
I haven’t seen either, but I was interested to see Hillbilly Elegy. I have the book, but haven’t read it yet. It was written by J.D. Vance, the populist author who frequents Tucker Carlson from time to time. The memoir (of the same name) was adopted for the film by Ron Howard. I can’t believe Howard would stay true the populist message the novel apparently conveyed.
It’s very strange they would adopt a Vance novel because he’s been frequently attacked as a ‘racist’ because he speaks with a Southern affect and is critical of Democrat ideas and politicians.
Native Alaskans don’t count since they murdered baby seals...

Nothing about great story telling or acting but all about quota’s.
Would love to see the manly “Mank” win best pic, White conservative Gary Oldman beat out the PC nominees for best actor, and white libertarian David Fincher beatr out all the female nominees for director.
The psychotic focus on diversity in all of this country’s institutions, to the exclusion of rewarding the best, has been its demise. The Chinese are laughing at us, and will kick our asses militarily when the time comes.
Don’t worry it’s all rigged anyway. Oscar died a long time ago
