The Federal area is to be up to 10 miles square.(100 square miles) Less has been used so far. The actual area used is 68 square miles. I wonder how statehood could work constitutionally...
I wonder if the states that ceded land for the capital can get it back?

The ten mile square, 100 sq. miles, was made up of land ceded by Virginia and Maryland. It included segments of the Potomac and Anacostia rivers. The Virginia portion was reclaimed by Virginia at the time of the Civil War.
