Many of the posters you refer to (defending that derps) are not necessarily stupid. They are playing on the other team.
This falls into one of my rules for life.
No matter how smart a man is, if he's a demoderp, he's automatically stupid.
To reach a wrong conclusion, a brain had to have made a mistake somewhere in the thought process. Only stupid brains make that kind of fundamental mistake.
