from the song “Cold Ft. Future” by Maroon 5, released February 14 2017.

There are two possibilities -
Maroon 5 is a group headed by Adam Levine, who married Behati Prinsloo, a South African supermodel for Victoria’s Secret. Leslie Wexner bought the 5 store lingerie chain in 1982 and grew it to behemoth proportions. If that name sounds familiar it’s because he was a very close friend and associate of Jeffrey Epstein.
In January 2021, Wexner’s shareholders filed a complaint with a Delaware court stating that Wexner, among others, created an “entrenched culture of misogyny, bullying and harassment”, breaching his fiduciary duty to the company and causing the brand to be devalued.
It’s not a stretch to think that Prinsloo filled Levine in on the use and abuse of young models in the industry. She was only 16 when she started her own career and would have a lot of inside information about trafficking and sexual misconduct with underage girls and boys. It sounds like her knowledge and experience inspired this song and maybe they’ve decided to try to bring attention to the problem.
The other possibility is that they’re part of the problem, condone it, and Levine now feels free to brag about it in his music. He was long known to have a fondness for Victoria’s Secrets models and would have known Wexner. I scanned a headline recently that stated they bought a house in Montecito very near Oprah and Harry/Markle. I know I wouldn’t do that if I didn’t like and admire those people and want them for neighbours and friends.
I don’t like the opportunistic and self-absorbed Markle, and Harry’s a silly pawn really, but I’ve often wondered if their separation from the Royals is, in part, a repudiation of the family for ignoring Andrew’s criminality, and for possibly arranging the murder of Harry’s mother before she could blow the whistle on it all. Shades of gray with those two, but Oprah definitely seems to have gone over to the dark side. As my Dad used to say, you are the company you keep.

I would like to add to your collection a 3rd possibility.
That video was released a few months after President Trump was elected, and about 2 weeks after he was inaugurated. They were afraid of what he was going to do to the dark empire - it had been broadcast in all his campaign materials
So maybe this was Levine's self-defense. These people will be afraid to walk down the street. "I was innocent, and was tricked/lured/drawn into it."
Maybe Levine never would have been allowed to rise the top so fast had he not paid his dues. I keep reading you don't make it to the top - they don't want you near them - unless you pay your evil "dues".
