The left continually claims that the rich are the key agents for undermining the progress of society. But it's not true at all.
This writer knows a leftwing corporate lawyer who sees our society as top-heavy with a rich, exploitative class drinking glasses of champagne while there are millions of starving children in America, millions of homeless in the streets, degradation and hopelessness everywhere based on economic deprivation as well as racist, sexist, and moral rigidity.... To him, there are too many Marie Antoinette types laughing in their palaces saying to the miserable masses, "Let them eat cake...." In his mind, most of those laughing are Republicans with a few Democrats thrown into this heartless, capitalist mix. He is obsessed with the “heartless” top 1% or .1% (the exact number is of small importance to this hater of “the system”) who are venal, smirking, self-satisfied individuals while the other 99% consists of miserable starving children and cast aside adults who, whatever their faults, deserve a better deal from life than they are getting.
This writer had a ministry to the homeless for a few years. As many neglected and hurting persons as I encountered at various locations in New York City, I did not find the streets teeming with homeless and starving children as for example I know exists in India, Africa, or parts of Latin America. This maudlin crowd of poverty chasers are looking at today’s poor the same way as Jacob Riis at the turn of the 20th century when he studied the hordes of immigrants living in six floor walk-up tenements in New York City.
Now there are food stamps for the indigent; yet, this writer knows from having taught in the public schools that there are hundreds of thousands of people

The left tends to blame the responsible for the plight of the irresponsible. There are people in bad situations through no fault of their own and I have no problem helping them. There are also those who learn to live off the system and don’t even take care of their own children. I don’t know the answer for that.

I know the answer. It’s called Tough Love. Don’t know about you but most of my life-lessons learned was by the hard way. Lessons learned through personal experience tend to reshape behavior.
If the left just kept quiet, people probably would be happy to give them the world. But the minute you talk about privileges and entitlement is when people stop giving out of their heart because instead you are extorting them. The result is people stop working for the left. And then the left attacks because they feel we are withholding from them what we could give them.
Go ahead. Commence FReepsplaining to me how all those gazillionaires in NY, LA, SF and Chicago are all rock-ribbed Conservatives who make Rush Limbaugh look like a bleeding heart Liberal.
Yep, the smash of reality goes both ways.
Men (or rather the masculine man or woman) tend to not understand women (the feminine) but once smacked with the reality of woman, they will pause and research and eventually figure it out.
The feminine liberal, however, will never seek to figure what reality hit them or why, they will go back to their ancestral pagan roots and think someone cursed them and it must be the successful ones. Probably it is a misunderstanding or it is their next door liberal who threw a curse at the rich and it fell back on them.
Anyways, suffice to say that maybe the rich are rich because while the rich probably feel as entitled as the left, they are very quiet about it. Instead of attacking, thus, they stay quiet and wait for people to work out of the goodness of their heart to see the business succeed.
This is why government is such a stupid but stupid stupid thing.
You do not get anywhere extorting people. I just experienced it with my nephew who is on a wheel chair. I was helping him and was ready to give him everything out of the goodness of my heart, but this imbecile had to open his mouth in resentment telling me that the reason I was successful is because I was privileged to be in good health and not handicapped , and he started spewing about BLM and how he was going to become a lawyer to right the wrongs.
Bottom line I am not talking to him anymore and not helping him. He can die in a ditch, I could care less for this piece of garbage. Even if he becomes a lawyer and tries to extort me, he will get much less than if he had swallowed his pride a little bit instead of spewing venom.
Indeed, what the heck is wrong with Rinos and these billionaires
1950s business man and even a then democrat would be furious about what the right is doing these days, saying nothing about the complete demoralization fo the work force, the complete killing of the enthusiasm and the spoiling the giving heart of people.
These rich people nowadays are so stupid. They remind me of these young girls who think they are hot but always end up overestimating themselves and overplaying their hand, finishing alone eventually, with people not wanting to put up with them.
A left wing corporate lawyer? He may not be in the top 1%, but very likely is in the top 5%.
Why doesn’t he donate 95% of his salary to alleviate the suffering of the oppressed poor?
Oh, no. Not at all. Not even a little bit. Uh-uh. Nope.
Who are we going to believe? E. Jeffrey Ludwig or our lying eyes?
He blames it on republicans when it is really the left that incentivizes irresponsibility.
But Bill Gate and Jeff Bezos ARE the cause of problems we face.
bkmk
Those who are wiring BILLIONS annually to Mexico are allegedly at “the bottom” of the economic scale. And they take that money out of the US economy. So how does Joseph Stolen think it will “trickle up”?!!
My mother and father grew up in the Great Depression. They ate a lot of oatmeal because it was what they could afford and my grandfather made crystal radios using the boxes to wind the coils. My mother taught me that "the world does not owe you a living."
Growing up, our family was lower middle class, and my parents taught me that performing well in school was the ticket to a good job. The teachers that my cohort had were very good. My chemistry teacher in high school encouraged us to go to summer science programs. I got a partial scholarship to attend. All of my science advisors during my education were wonderful people.
During my career, I had both high school and college interns. Most were very hard working and a joy to advise. It was fun to "pay it forward".
I think the "entitlement culture" killed most of that. I found it strange that people expected try-outs for sports teams and seat checks for music, but did not expect the best academic slots to go to the highest performing students. We need to get back to a mentality that the best opportunities go to those who perform the best. I do not care about gender, or ethnicity. I do think those who work hard to build their skills to be effective in their chosen field will be a credit to their employers.
Enabling citizens - - making them dependent - - is evil... even when it makes white liberal ‘elites’ feel happy, superior, and self-satisfied.
Ironically the richest 1% are mostly Democrats, and some of them radically left wing. They get even richer by using big government to protect themselves and to kill competition, and Democrats are their BFF playmates in that game. Along with a lot of RINOs, from whom we are wresting the Republican party, with Trump in the lead.
Who are the peeps doing the most egregious damage to the principle of free speech? Not Joe Sixpack. No, it’s the ultra-rich - Bezos, Zuckerberg, Soros et.al.
Yah, I’d say the 1% ARE what’s wrong with America today.
One percenters want to control the masses so yes they typically are in favor of big government.
