Marvin Hagler, the middleweight boxing great whose title reign and career ended with a split-decision loss to “Sugar” Ray Leonard in 1987, died Saturday. He was 66.
Wife Kay G. Hagler confirmed the death on Facebook on the verified Marvelous Marvin Hagler Fan Club page.
“I am sorry to make a very sad announcement,” she wrote. “Today unfortunately my beloved husband Marvelous Marvin passed away unexpectedly at his home here in New Hampshire. Our family requests that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.”
Hagler was 62-3-2 with 52 knockouts from 1973 to 1987. He was the undisputed middleweight champion from 1980 to his loss to Leonard at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on April 6, 1987.
I still think he won his match with Sugar Ray Leonard. Mr. Marvelous was robbed via split decision.
I don’t know what he died of but 67 professional bouts is a lot of blows to the head.
Happy? Now you killed a boxing legend.
Hank Aaron died after getting the vaccine too.
Yep. Even Sugar Ray admitted it in later interviews but Sugar Ray was the darling of the boxing industry at the time. I think it was Hagler who really cut open Sugar Ray’s eye to the point where Ray almost went blind and was told to retire.
Hagler - Hearns
One of the greatest fights ever.
RIP Marvin Hagler, you won me $600.
I had a lot of friends that would travel to watch Hagler fight. He was a MANster in the ring.
Laz, if they had the ability to like posts here, I’d like this post and regret that I had but one like to give it.
which vaccine did he take?
All the Vaccines are Rat Poison!
yeah... I am doubting that the government is trying to kill all their parents and healthcare workers.
*rolls eyes*

“Happy? Now you killed a boxing legend.“
Yep, you nailed it. But what did Stalin say? One death is a tragedy, a million deaths a statistic. Those that push this vaccine are just trying to push us into statistic territory.
Damn. Had been watching some of those fights recently and interviews with Hagler.
No one was tougher and more dedicated. He trained hard and was ready every time he stepped in the ring.
Back in the day, saw him versus Leonard at a theater as PPV. Recall walking out and speaking with a police officer how great it was.
Hagler won the fight in th estimation of many. I agree.
He was amazing and I am sorry to hear of his untimely passing.
May God embrace one tough warrior. RIP.

Boxing legend Marvelous Marvin Hagler died on Saturday, March 13, at age 66 according to a post made by Hagler’s wife Kay on the boxing champ’s official Facebook fan club page. The news was later confirmed by the Associated Press.
Hagler was one of the most celebrated fighters in boxing history, but a post on Instagram made by one of Hagler’s biggest boxing rivals has caused a major controversy to rage across the internet about the former middleweight champion’s death.
About an hour before Hagler’s death was announced, Thomas “Hitman” Hearns posted, “A real true warrior Pray for the king and his family. He’s in ICU fighting the after effects of the vaccine! He’ll be just fine but we could use the positive energy and Prayer for his Full Recovery!”
“I still think he won his match with Sugar Ray Leonard.”
Watched the fight, and Hagler backed Leonard into a corner almost every round and just laid some hurt bombs on him while Leonard slapped Hagler a of times each round with little taps. I don’t think Hagler was breathing heavy after the fight.
Pound for pound, Hagler was the best technician and pure fighter I ever saw with smart strategy, moves, no wasted action, and could hit like a mule. He never beat an opponent in his career, he punished them.

I remember watching an interview of Frazier a couple of years before he died. You could tell he was not all there and was using all his energy to just concentrate.
