Paul tests the difference between using round ball and conical projectiles in a black powder revolver.
(Excerpt) Read more at youtu.be ...
that target pack was heavy, and two shots knocked it clean off where it was standing- some p retty serious hitting power
So which was it..... can’t watch YouTube now....
Bottom line conclusions:
1) Accuracy differences between the Conical and Round Ball was minimal, but point of impact shifts dramatically between the two, so you will need to re-zero your sights when you switch between the two.
2) Results on the meat target were very similar.
3) Paul uses his black powder revolver in competition, where the only approved projectile is Round Ball, so Conical projectiles won't see much use by him.
4) The most important factor in accuracy isn't the projectile shape, but barrel cleanliness.
Dixie Works....
The rate of twist of the rifling will determine the proper type of projectile. For slow twist barrels (1 turn in 56 to 72 inches) use a patched round ball. For fast twist barrels (1 turn in 16 to 28 inches) use a conical bullet.

He has some great videos. love the meat target. “don’t try this at home”
