Explain persistence in semen has been known about for a while, a few years anyway.

The question is whether or not what’s present in the semen in the man who had it years ago is capable of infecting anyone today.

FWIW, I highly doubt it. But it makes for some dandy fear porn.

This unique finding will undergo a series of independent testing to confirm this medical finding.
Under the "Scientific Method", this test result should be able to be duplicated elsewhere, verifying that this is the 2014 -2016 same virus.
Not directly mentioned, as I recall, is whether the individual overcame the ebola virus by himself,
or was assisted by being a recipient of ebola vaccines, which may have some bearing on the testing results.
As stated earlier, this is a unique and unexpected result of gene testing, and will require further study and independent testing.
