This was unusually hard rock for them, right? It peaked in early 1980.
My all-time favorite rock song.
The intro reminds me of the intro to Aldo Nova’s “Fantasy”.
Best tune of the “Starship” era even though Grace Slick was not with them then.
Starship’s first album, Red Octopus, is a major part of the soundtrack of my life.
This was the first album with Mickey Thomas taking over on lead vocals. Thomas also did the vocals on Elvin’Bishop’s “Fooled Around and Fell in Love”
Many moons ago I used to go to all their concerts in San Francisco. My best friend at the time married one of these guys (I was a bridesmaid and they’re still married) and I always had a backstage pass. I even got to fly on their airplane once, to Miami. Those were very fun times.
Must be a pic from the 45 single album is different.
Always loved Craig Chaquico's scorching guitar solo. One of my favorites.
Loved Marty Balin....RIP...
Absolutely love fooled around and fell in love...and for a new twist on that old song...

Elle King is amazing. Hard to believe she is Rob Schneider’s daughter.
That was great but no guitar player is going to match that golden tone of Elvin Bishop.
Agree The song brings back memories of roller skating on Friday nights.
ooooh sh1t... good stuff! i’m switchin’ to glide
I was eight when that song was released.
Great song from an absolutely horrible, tragic year for my family.
Thanks for posting. It’s a fun song.
A better song but not as successful as their later hit, “We Built This City”.
Saw Donnie Iris a year ago just before Covid. He still sounds great!
