Looks like the Nakatomi Plaza building in the background...

I think I can still see the splat from when Hans Gruber hit the pavement.

I get why this is a national story; entitled rich kids wrecks dad’s exotic car and kills a woman in the process. That’s very click-baity, understandably.

But, I GUARANTEE on that same day in that same city, there was probably someone seriously injured if not killed by an illegal alien and no one will write about it. And then it happened again the next day, then the next day and so on and so on. I hate our media.

My son made it safely through this phase in his Pinto station wagon that took 5 minutes to get up to 60 mph.

I had over-protective parents. My first car was the family Buick station wagon. Good thing, too. When I was 19 some ditzy 17 y.o. rammed my car from the rear. The entire back was smashed in. I had whiplash pretty bad, but didn’t want to sue. My dad insisted.. I won the case and invested the settlement money into bank stock. 😊

Lol, mine was a Buick Somerset that was about 15 years old, no radio, no A/C, all the felt on the roof was falling off so it had to be routinely stapled back up, and the steering column was messed up so to start it I had to turn the key AND lever something inside the steering column with a screwdriver inserted into a hole to get it to start.

I replaced that steering column with one that didn’t match the color of the rest of the interior, sawed a hole in the dashboard to cram a CD player in there, and drove that thing until it died. Then I got an Oldsmobile that was 7 years older, with a completely rusted hood and holes in the floor, but hey, at least it had a V-8 :)

17 year old kids and 700 horsepower engines do not mix well.

Makes me glad my first car was a breakneck 56 horsepower... when new. It mellowed in its old age by the time I got it. When I traded it in for something with 82 HP I thought I was a Daytona driver.

I hate to admit this, but I did some really stupid things with cars after I got my license at 16. I damaged my father’s car at 17; as a result, I was, rightly, grounded for 6 months. Luckily, I did not hit another car and no one in my car was hurt; however, the repair bill for my Dad’s car was almost $1000 (which was big money in those days).

Anyway, I wised up fast after that one. I was not a dumb kid, but probably too damn immature to drive at 16/17. One of the biggest blessings of my life is that no one was hurt in my accident. Without getting into too many detail, someone easily could have been. I was extremely lucky to get away with only a grounding.

“Too many idle rich in this country.”

I hear Democrats say that a lot. I know quite a few wealthy people. None of us could be described as “idle”. We are often still workaholics even in our 80’s. There are so many opportunities it’s hard to pass them up and just take it easy.

Article quote: “shopping company boss”

Sounds like he works at a profession.

I agree it’s a terrible idea to put a kid in one. Those cars are infamous for being hard to handle. Youtube is full of after-action report videos.

LOL...great photo!

My first car...a 1960's something Austin Healy Sprite...I pulled the engine and did all kinds of cool things to it...added a roll bar and sold it when I was drafted.

Ha just like me. The engine seized on that van after a few months. The oil leaked out one day and I drove it and the piston seized up and if you can believe it, I bought a new engine from a junkyard and replaced it doing all the work myself using a mechanics book, it was utterly insane. I loved that van, I use to call it “The Tank” as I thought it was indestructible, i use to hang two empty beer cans from the rear view mirror instead of dice and cops use to pull me over all the time lol

Millions will not bring the lady back, forethought about giving a STUPID gift would have PREVENTED IT! Doubt strongly that the father or family ever exercised republican traits of restraint, prudence and good judgement!

Since that’s how the company started, and Lamborghini didn’t start making exotic automobiles until he pissed off Enzo Ferrari, no it wouldn’t surprise me.

My first car was a ‘74 Pinto. And knowing what I know now, it’s a good thing I didn’t have something faster at that age.
