I’m convinced most of the “art” world is a cover for something nefarious. Probably simple money laundering most of the time but there’s plenty of other possibilities I wouldn’t rule out.

One of Orson Welles last films was called “F is for Fake”. It’s a half documentary half parody (and sometimes hard to tell which is which) of the art world. It also stars his longtime mistress.
