I enjoyed The Expanse through the end of the third season. It was an excellent ending. Now it’s like a bad sequel.
I think they are steeped in “make it up as it goes along” mode.
Mr Robot tied everything together awesomely in the final episode of the final season. So did Monk. And Psych, for that matter.
I liked The Expanse. I could not get my head around Season 4 of Mr. Robot and thought the pacing was off compared to the first 3 seasons, so I quit it. Never watched those other shows but I know of them.
Well I think they sort of “make it up as they go along” because generally they only get 1 season renewal at a time. Only a few excellent shows or people with a long history of success get a chance to think through and pitch 5 seasons (though I don’t think there is ever a deal to make 5 seasons all upfront; always depends on the success of the show).
