There is a huge layoff at the Huffington Post. Key writers — 47 US writers — were fired. The failing leftist blog pushed for Trump supporters to be de-platformed and de-banked. It doesn’t seem to have worked for them financially.
BuzzFeed announced layoffs for the HuffPost newsroom on Tuesday, three weeks after acquiring HuffPost from Verizon Media in February.
Hillary Frey, the executive editor, and Louise Roug, the executive editor for international, will be departing in the restructuring effort.
HuffPost Canada will also shutter operations later this month.
They say they are fast-tracking the path to profitability.

The average worker may not realize it, but this is now the norm for these “news” agencies. Fill the ranks when there is a campaign every two years (mid-terms as well as presidential), then let them go when the season is over. It really is sporadic, seasonal work once news became hyper-politicized.
The big bucks behind them doesn’t need them anymore - until the mid-terms; they’ll be back.
The main paper in NJ shut down its comments section early in 2020 in anticipation of the election, then went full-bore “Orange Man Bad” (as they clearly knew they would have to after Hillary’s embarrassment in 2016, which was their embarrassment as well). Now they’re begging for people to subscribe, but they are done; most English speakers in NJ don’t trust them at all. The problem they had with the comments was that posters would post the truth in response to their headlines/spin (about anything); local people close to the stories would expose their bias and lies, and they couldn’t have that level of candor with the election coming up.
Years ago it was predicted that print media would die; they didn’t understand that the digital version would become so biased it would die soon after. News radio (not talk radio) has become unbearable for the same bias; the newswhores couldn’t report a routine rainy day without adding how Trump had left the Paris climate nonsense. I’ve known for a long time that there was a growing division between most people who work all day and most people who watch daytime TV; now I see the same divide growing between people who listen/watch any network news and those who don’t - they simply have nothing in common AT ALL anymore.

“After 10 years (!!) I have been laid off along with many of my talented colleagues. I’m very proud of the work I did here and will share some in the coming days.
Meanwhile, if you’re looking for a curious, motivated narrative reporter with a keen eye for news, keep me in mind.” - Melissa Jeltsen Senior Reporter at HuffPost
This made me laugh. She wouldn’t know a reporter if she tripped over one. HuffPost doesn’t have reporters, they have DNC stenographers...
Amazon has already raised prices and charges sales tax for my state. I used to buy a lot on Amazon and get pretty good bargains. Now many items are no longer bargains and I can get them cheaper elsewhere. My Amazon shopping is now down to items I can't find elsewhere.
