I came back from Germany with over 400 albums. I lived 12 miles off base, so I couldn't get the American station. At the time, there were 2 German stations. So, I'd buy 10-12 albums a month, and mix my own cassettes.

I'm not complaining, I loved it there. I rented a small apartment from a German family. Across the alley was a vineyard, and a couple of miles away was a clear view of at 14th century castle.

My daily commute took me through the town of Urzig, along the Mosel River.

My oldest son, age 54, loves Germany. Up until the coof, he would go once or twice a year. Each time he'd go, he'd take in another nearby county. He has friends in Germany, and speaks the language very well...but he likes to book a hotel in Berlin, then go out and meander on his own. He's been there so many times that he can give the people who live there, directions on how to get where they want to go. I've never been there, and up until I had my DNA done, and worked on my family tree, I never knew I had ancestors from there...many supposedly from the Germanic Empire aristocracy.
