Is he a natural born citizen, eligible to be president?
If he runs as a Conservative Republican - No!
If he runs as a neo-Marxist Democrat - Of course he is a natural born citizen!
He isn’t a Natural Born Citizen. NBC = Born on US soil of two US citizens.
If Archie had been born in the USA, would he be a NBC, since his mother is a NBC?
Short answer: yes, when he reaches the minimum age.
Slightly longer answer: yes, when he reaches the minimum age because his mother is a US citizen and conferred citizenship upon him at birth.
Even longer answer than that: yes, when he reaches the minimum age because his mother is a US citizen and conferred citizenship upon him at birth. He is eligible for a US passport as a citizen at birth, ergo, he is naturally born a citizen and that is the only standard that anyone can point to as having some sort of proven track record behind it. McCain, Cruz, Harris, Obama, Rubio all met this standard and not a single one of them was disqualified by any court or legislation from serving in the office of the Presidency. Folks on the internet may not like it, but until something happens in a more official capacity than an internet forum, that’s the truth.
Because of his plausible line to the British monarchy, it would likely be expected for political expediency (but likely not mandated) that he would formally renounce his British citizenship and place in the royal lineage through an official act with the British government like a letter filed through the British embassy. Since the US can’t dictate foreign laws, if the Brits decide to ignore that letter and keep him in line for the throne and allow him to hold a British passport, all the US could do is refuse to recognize it.
Until such a case is made and proven otherwise in the Supreme Court or resolved through an act of Congress or Amendment to the Constitution, that’s the only burden of proof that has to be met legally. Everything else is internet speculation. Of course, if he turns out to be a conservative and looks like he’d be heading for a win, all bets are off.
Natural born citizens are born here of citizen parents.
Foreign parents bequeath foreign citizenship.
Any other citizenship negates natural born citizen status.
Archie is more qualified than Kamala Harris.
Well, the son of a king or queen is a prince, by virtue of birth (prince of the royal blood as they used to say). The son of a prince, though, is not automatically a prince as well, even though they may be in the line of succession. If Harry were to become king, then his son would become a prince, but otherwise, he’s only got whatever title the monarch bestows on him.
Perhaps I’m missing something but this is how I think it works.
If Caliph Baraq of Kenya qualified, then Harry’s gotta be good to go.
And to those who say Caliph Baraq wasn’t legit, try selling that to the judge as a defense when you are on trial for violating some law he signed....
People believe all that stuff about Archie? Meghan Markle has told so many lies her nose should be 6” long. Maybe it was before all her plastic surgery.
Meghan has had one person stick with her in her life. Her mother. However, she has alienated her mother’s family, her father’s family and now her husband’s family. Oh yes, her first two husbands have no kind words about her. Let’s see what Harry has to say in a couple of years.
Why not? He is more “American” than Obama.
This is a clear illustration of the ignorance that Meghan displays, honing a grievance based on her personal resentment that "Archie was treated differently than the other grandchildren", and assuming it was racial, when it was not at all. She just can't get over that her prince just isn't all that high in the line of succession. She actually thought she and Harry could compete with William and Kate for the top spot, based on celebrity and popularity in the media.
No he is not. In 1787 women could not pass on citizenship, and the meaning of "natural born citizen" cannot be changed by subsequent congressional legislation giving women the right to pass on citizenship.
By the standards of 1787, he is not a US citizen, and that's even overlooking the "ambassador" type status of his father, which would also preclude him from having US citizenship.
Yes, until someone with the authority to tell him he's not eligible tells him he's not eligible.
He's no less eligible than Ted Cruz (born in Canada to an American mother and Cuban father). Of course, Archie would have no renounce any royal titles. A minor formality.
The problem with Natural Born Citizenship as defined in the Constitution is that there seems to be no enforcement mechanism other than the will of the voters and if Archie decides to run for president and actually wins the election, who's going to stop him from assuming office?
Obama and Harris slipped in, so that ship has sailed...
In 35 years, if Archie get smart (since his parents aren’t the brightest people on earth, I hope he got brains and common sense to be a Trumpet) I hope America will be around.
Idiot...
