So very sorry ... for you, for me, and especially for the confined creatures. In some ways, that’s us now.
Elephants are such amazing creatures. I watched a documentary about a preserve for elephants rescued from captivity. They had two females that were both over 50 years old and who had been captive together some 40 years prior. One had been rescued and living at the sanctuary for many years. When they finally tracked down the other one and put her with her friend from 40 years prior, it brought me to tears. The bugling, the touching once they recognized each other.. two old friends who hadn’t seen each other for years and one of them telling the other, “It’s okay, you’re safe now.”

The suffering of the innocent and of dumb animals keeps me awake at night. I’ve seen too many things. We can fight back if we are willing, some poor creatures can’t.
