Interesting question. Back in the day (not sure about now)
Arizona and California used to have “Fruit” road check shacks.
Couldn’t bring in fruit from each others’ state.

I remember that when my grandmother and I would go from Utah to California, they would check and make sure we didn’t have any plants or fruit...I wonder if they still have them???

When I was driving Semis I only drove on interstates...

In OR they’re called “bug stations.

Bringing into OR no problem, CA won’t let any fruit in. Even if it was grown in CA. Or firewood. We’d give friends in CA firewood (we have too much to burn) but they can’t bring it across the state line.
