G Gordon Liddy was my radio addiction before Rush.

I never met Rush nor ever called into his show, but his death has left a void in my life. I was a Democrat in 1992, and listening to him completely changed the way I looked at the world. Then all of you Freepers solidified my support for conservative principles. Conservative talk radio will always have a big listening audience with or without Rush. No one host will ever match his numbers or have a long term bond with his listeners the way he did. Rush can never be replaced, but itโ€™s time to move on with a new host in his time slot.

Prayers and condolences for all of Rush’s near and far family. Loved Rush like a brother, taught me how and why to think for myself, dittohead from when Time Began.
Rush was always dealing with What Is Happening Now, and What Is Happening Next. He did not only tell us about the past. With his passing, clever people are using Rush’s words ‘as he has taught us’ to reference current events. I understand that the intent is to honor him. That is not the result.
Even if Mark Steyn, Todd Herman, i’m sometimers forgetting names, even if they are Not As Good As Rush, (which is forgivable) , talking of the Now and Next is What Needs To Happen. I already have a good idea how to look backwards. That is a mistake to do with everything facing us.

Unless we just all sit in a circle, talking about the good old days which will slip further and further behind. If that’s what we do, we have learned nothing from EIB, and Rush’s legacy will fail.

Same here. Heartache. Many of the replay clips are fond memories.

And then there was an impromptu Rush puretalk cell phone commercial, and that was too crass, even for a obscene profit moment.

With my family members it was the coroner/medical examiner who filled out the death certificate. They might interview the family members (yes in my dad’s case, no in my mom’s).
You can tell the coroner he was the greatest radio host of all time, but he might just put down “radio host” as the occupation.
