For some reason, Democrats are dead set on making it as easy as possible for criminals to commit acts of violence with firearms.
With Democrats in control of Congress and the White House, Americans can expect a series of progressive bills to be introduced. In a budget reconciliation process, the bills can be passed in the U.S. Senate with a simple majority. This is what happened with the $1.9-trillion monstrosity known as the COVID-19 relief bill.
Fortunately, most legislation does not qualify for this designation and will require a 60-vote threshold in the U.S. Senate to pass. With such a requirement, it would seem the future looks bleak for the newly introduced Background Checks Expansion Act (BCEA). This gun control legislation will be subject to a Senate filibuster unless U.S. senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) changes his mind.
When reporters asked Manchin about whether he would change his position about supporting the filibuster, he was extremely clear in his response. Manchin shouted, "Never, Jesus Christ! What don't you understand about 'never'?" As long as Manchin defends the Senate filibuster, Second Amendment–supporting Americans can rest assured about new gun control legislation passing Congress.
Regrettably, politicians constantly change their minds, and Manchin is no exception. Recently, he promised to support the COVID-19 relief bill only if it included input from Republicans. He vowed, "I want it to be bipartisan. If they think we are going to throw all caution to the wind and just shove it down people's throats, that's not going to happen."
Well, that is exactly what happened in both houses of Congress, as the legislation was passed without the votes of any Republican members. Among the Democrats who voted for the legislation was none other than Senator Manchin.

Gun control isn’t about crime. It’s a moral issue. They believe with all their heart there’s no reason for anyone other than the police to have access to firearms.

They just want to take guns. We need no more gun laws. Just gun owners to be and keep being responsible on keeping them locked up and safe. Bad people are always going to have them and we have a right to own them to protect ourselves. And hunt and shooting targets is fun. We need more ammo suppliers.

Amazing how smart those old white guys were. If these leftists spent half as much energy on truly addressing crime and criminals as they do trying to kill America and freedom we might actually be able to save this country.
There are (approximately) 300 million weapons in private ownership by (approximately) 200 million people in the United States. There are billions of rounds of ammunition.
There are (approximately) 325 million people in the United States. According to FBI, ATF and WHO, there are (approximately) 12,000 gun homicides annually (average 10 years). Of these fully half are gang/drug related. 12,000 represents 0.0037% of the population. Taking all the foregoing into consideration, we are a very peaceable lot.
Communists historically have always met certain prerequisites to successful totalitarian overthrow of nations and people. Control media, control education, control the judiciary, control police and military and ... disarm the population.
History is upon us, so to say.
