They are only repealing the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) passed to support Bush 41 and Bush 43’s wars in Iraq. Note they are not withdrawing the troops, just taking away Biden’s ability to use them in Iraq and Syria. This is just push back for the strikes in Syria last week. Also, they are not trying to repeal Public Law 107–40, the AUMF for the “Global War on Terror”, and certainly not the War Powers Act.
Congress should never give open ended support for use of force like they did with these two resolutions. Either declare war or don’t.
I have a theory about this.
On that last raid against Iranian-backed Syrian militia, Biden gave the go-ahead. But since he is senile, he soon foforgot about it and there were no followup notifications, it took everyone by surprise.
