I drove forklift, great fun, but for the heat and cold. But the money was excellent! Once we got rid of the losers, it was way better!

Nothing in my world can replace the sight, sound, feel, or exhilaration of a race car. NOTHING.

When its last fan gets escorted out of the stands for not being politically-correct *enough*.

Cars just got too fast and danger with cars flying into the spectators.

I think Indy is limited to about 230 and Daytona about 200.
The insurance companies have a big say.

Of course with today’s technology Indy does 230 with a puny 2.2 liter engine on 20psi of turbo boost.

Those were already light in the ass end. Wonder what the axle weight ratio is now?

“Introduce betting?”

There has never been a race track built where betting did not occur.

“ Autonomous too? A tech race. Musk should start something like that.”

Yeh, EV’s will have to be a class of its on. Say what you want; but electric motors deliver almost instant power/ torque. They’ll be almost impossible to beat in drag races. And, on the oval they will be able to sling shot out of the turns leaving gas fueled cars in the dust. Downside, will be distance traveled between battery swaps. Will be a trade off of distance vs weight I think.

I remember a couple years ago Musk showed up at the Nurburgring and set some fast times for one lap but found out those chubby Teslas are really hard on the tires

Just beam the power directly to the receiving unit on the vehicle, each power beam synched to the individual racer.

Of course, the sweeping power beams would cook anything they passed through....

Technical details still have to be worked out.

Disregarding the fact that I now have Springsteen's "The Angel" stuck in my head...why not go with wind power and be totally green?

“They tried turbine cars in the Indy 500 but people didn’t like them because the lacked the noise. By the way, the turbine cars were also faster.”

You don’t understand NASCAR.
