It's interesting that Maryland has a Democrat Supermajority legislature and a weak GOP governor, and Kentucky has a Republican Supermajority legislature, and a weak Democrat governor.

Whereas Beshear is an aberrant one-off because of Bevin, and will be replaced by African-American Republican Secretary of State Daniel Cameron in 2023, the silver lining is that a red state with an outlier and outright liar Democrat governor reminds conservatives of the one-way ticket to Loserville and the damage that Democrats can do.

Maryland, otoh, is nearly 100% assured to yield the Governor's office to the socialist Alsobrooks in 2022, giving Democrats complete control of Maryland, not unlike Kalifornia.
