I used to hang glide over that desolation all the time. Craters everywhere, and long black tendrils of lava flows. You need to be two miles up to get across, or you will have to hunt for thermals. And a giant mud lake, must not forget that. Got the truck stuck overnight in that once whilst retrieving a fellow pilot that forgot to throw a penny in Pahvant Butte as he went over and the gods were displeased.
