I loved the Birthday Book and the Sleep Book. But...
There was a collection of his wartime cartoons published about ten years ago, and man, are they ever dreary. His editorial cartoons were decidedly left of center and frequently resorted to the old "fascist canard" (in that they deliberately and disingenuously fail to portray Hitler and Mussolini as the doctrinaire socialists they were).
How about his nekid book on the 7 Lady Godivas?? Kinda funny.
His first was was a Socialist. As she was dying from cancer, Geisel had an affair with his second wife. First wife finds out, kills herself.. Geisel and Audrey marry a year later.
