If you are referring to the report that Hernandez’s relatives would get some sort of money from the Patriots or the NFL because suicide voided his conviction and they had to honor his contract, that never happened.

You are correct, however, none of that matters because the MA Supreme Court reinstated Hernandez's conviction in 2019. However, I understand that in 2019 or 2020 his estate did receive a settlement from the Patriots on a portion of the salary due him before his arrest. Apparently he would have been entitled to that money even after being held in breach of contract. His fiance sold his home for around a million dollars and there is still a question about his NFL pension which he did pay into. Also there are civil lawsuits.

As time has gone by Hernandez is starting to look like a sympathetic character. Researchers claimed his brain was one of the worse cases of TBI they had ever seen, his brain had actually shrunk in size. He was pretty much a nut case from TBI. He would have been more demented then BIden in a few years had he lived.

His suicide lead to the autopsy and revealed the severely damaged brain. In the end he came across as evil in the NETFLIX movie, but he has also become a somewhat sympathetic figure who destroyed his brain to play a game.
