How could any honest well-meaning parent, no matter how ignorant or poorly educated, do a worse job than an NEA indoctrinator?
Good books and a willing parent are the two ingredients for a successful homeschooling effort.
It’s not what the parents don’t know. It’s what the ‘professional educators’ know that ain’t so.

We went with private school, but they supported homeschooling co-ops and now “pods” before it was cool. Thus we met a lot of homeschooling parents, whether they did it on the transition to private schooling or long-term.
Any parent can teach kids elementary grade content, if they have the patience and time. Hence the joke “If you can’t teach a 5 year old the alphabet, that is your problem, not mine.”
