Huh? So the Center with multiple radar tracking stations and operators couldn't see an object so close to an airline? What am I missing here? I have little knowledge of air control, but have seen in documentaries how they designate aircraft on their screens. Their systems are so advanced as to wave off potential collisions when aircraft get to close.

The aircraft would have to have an encoding transponder. I’d guess that the UFO was simply a target drone.
