Tiger Woods is 'awake, responsive and recovering in his hospital room' after extensive surgery on Tuesday to his lower right leg and ankle, following a crash in California that police said he was lucky to survive.
Woods, 45, was put under general anesthetic at Harbor-UCLA hospital as surgeons fitted metal rods, screws and pins to his shattered right shinbone and calf bone following the crash, which happened around 7.15am Tuesday in south Los Angeles.
Anish Mahajan, chief medical officer at the hospital, said Woods suffered comminuted open fractures of his tibia and fibula - where the bone splinters into two or more pieces and comes through the skin - and had a rod inserted in his tibia, with his foot and ankle 'stabilized with a combination of screws and pins'.

That is the longest Daily Mail article I’ve ever seen.
I always go straight to the Daily Mail whenever anything happens. They always have good overall coverage of news event. The less said about all their celebrity fluff, the better though.
Tiger was very lucky to survive that crash.
It also has driver assist capability and emergency braking. I am not familiar with that stretch of road, but having spent some time around Palos Verdes one would be a moron to text while driving anywhere on the peninsula.
Don't know about those Africans or Europeans.
😂
Do people ever realize why race cars are NOT front wheel drive cars??
I personally think as a driving speed increases that front wheel drive cars are inherently less safe, and more likely to go “out of control” than rear wheel drive cars. The difference is that the power-train magnifies a path error and must be forcefully corrected by the driver, as opposed to when the steering wheels merely roll over (without power in them) conditions and the human driver has to fight less to correct them.
He’s like the Linsey Lohan of golf. What a mess ....
Unless he turned all of those safety features off.
How can you go over the median, into another lane etc without correcting yourself unless you were driving extremely fast, or if you lost control due to being impaired.
People have unreal expectations form meds, focusing on what they want from the meds while ignoring the stated side effects such as drowsiness. Folks also make the mistake of equating pain reduction with dose amount, so they take more than the recommended amount and the side effects rise exponentially.
Tiger Woods needs a Dad whom he has lost.
If he’s on opioids all this time, I agree with you.
His drug test will be negative since he has a prescription, but in fact he could be impaired.
the only way to know is to see what he’s taking and the dosage.
One thing for sure, and I’m a doctor saying this, I’m sure early on he had poor medical advice, and the docs and therapists coming in at the end, were trying to undo the damage done.
I’ve never ever heard of someone genuinely needing 5 back surgeries unless it was from a car accident or war injury.
How many fusions did he have? 2? 3? 1 is too many, but people can recover from that.
No doubt he had the same leeches all the celebrity types get, Elvis, Prince, Michael Jackson etc.
He doesn't want to retire, but he's got to realize he can't be the young Tiger forever. He's shown everyone what he can do but his body is telling him it's time to put the clubs in the closet and find another way to be happy. Now he'll a long time to think it over. I wish him a good future.
He also needs a driver while he is taking medications.
OVI on public property affects insurance actuarials
This may be involved, along with damage to public property.
Yes, false sense of security. And this includes vehicles.

Added, the body is servant in our faith. We don’t serve the body in our faith.
Adding: Desperation swing changes...(Foley years etc.,)
I saw those photos too and he really is lucky to be alive, which is the first concern. Second concern is to heal and be able to walk again. Then see if he can still play on the pro tour.
VERY INTERESTING POST
Swerving to avoid wildlife could be a possibility I haven't seen mentioned.
If you’re driving too fast on a curvy hwy, and you’re texting, or eating, or whatever, you hit that median curb, and perhaps all hell breaks loose. You try to correct but you’ve lost control. I suspect he was driving too fast.
Here’s another thing.
I bet Woods never really was taught how to drive.
My kids learned from. their mother, who couldn’t wait to get them driving. Bought them a car. They had wrecks the first week. Lucky they didn’t die.
My Dad was a professional driver. He knew I wasn’t ready and enrolled me in a Driving School.
Laterwhen I worked for AT&T I was sent to their driving academy.
Big difference as you respect the car every time you climb into the cockpit, and you form good habits.
Lets face it. Woods is still a big kids, with questionable moral and common sense compass on certain things. The only he knows is golf and p*ssy.

It is probably going to take a few weeks to figure out what happened. It is hard to believe crash investigators haven’t download the black box data yet. There was some series of events that went on to cause the crash..
The depth of the game has change since the Duval- Woods - Mickelson era
Hence Woods attempting to keep up with the power distances (Foley) of Bubba , Johnson , Koepka , and a host of others. Depth.
Bryson winning the US Open. TGM mechanics
Total distance. Wedge 60 deg second shots
Can’t see the sit-down position ever returning in Woods again
Upper body (hitter) maybe. Micky Mantle , Columbus CC Oaklahoma +300 off season.
Regardless , so matter how the media sponsor “good” sugar , a bad decision was made in this crash.
How many other SUVs crossed the road into other lanes , crushed the front end, flipped with major hospitalization?
