Teen Charged In Double Murder Of Aspiring Rapper Rasheen Jones, Kwann Henderson In Chester: DA(14 year old killer)
via MSN ^ | 02/20/2021 | CBS Philly

---SNIP--- “This was a cold-blooded double murder by a young person who was — at the time of the murder

— only 14 years old,” Stollsteimer said. “His victims were only 19 and 20. This epitomizes the truly senseless violence that exists on our streets today. I must commend the hard work of the law enforcement officers involved with this case; however, as proud as I am of their work, my heart breaks for the families of the victims — and the entire Chester community. This is a tragedy on all fronts.”

Hi.

We lived in Chester when I was a kid. 1955 to 57. In what at that time was called the “Projects.”

Mostly white, multi ethnic population. Very low crime rate, and mostly people striving for a better life.

Oh, and very patriotic.

Wow.... I hate to admit that I was born and raised in Chester. There was a corner bar, The Bull Moose, at 3rd and Lamokin.

I left the area in 1968, never to return, except for funerals. While at my 50th Chester High School Reunion, some of my classmates that were into real estate, stated they had some investors that were going to bring Chester back to life. I told them the only way to bring it back, was to raze the whole city.

Back in the day, Chester was know for it’s High School Band and its basket ball program. The band doesn’t exist now, no music classes starting in 3rd grade. I played the drums, starting in 3rd grade. We even played at the Republican National Convention for Nixon, also, the Miss America Parade in Atlantic City.

Back then, Chester was divided into two parts. The southern portion of the city, poor schools, project housing, etc. Chester had one High School, everything would merge there. In 10th grade, I was surprised that students from the south side of Chester couldn’t read. I told my father at dinner after witnessing this. He said that’s why we moved to the east side of Chester, when you started school. I’m saddened by Chester’s outcome.

Yup. Just read the story about the murder of James Bulger. If I remember correctly the murderers were 10 years old.

Chester High School is a weird building. It has no corners.
I was getting some looks when I was down there.
I look like a cop. White, muscular, military haircut...
Chester cannot be fixed, that’s for certain.

It’s amazing the number of black “aspiring rappers” are killed by other blacks

Chester, Camden, Trenton, Marcus Hook, Wilmington, all once mighty little cities. All victims of the Great Society.

Someone, set fire to the old High School. I’ve only been in the gym of the new High School and that was back in the early 80’s.

I once taught in a high school like that. The building was round, like a castle keep. I always wondered why it was built that way. That design had to be more expensive than the standard rectangular design.

Then again, this high school was in a very bad neighborhood. So maybe the city thought that some day it might be needed as a fort!

Yeah, maybe the curved surfaces deflect random gunshots better?

Where was CPS before this kid became so far gone?

Your faith in CPS is touching! But likely CPS couldn’t do anything even if they cared enough to try. The general rule is that the best place for a child is with his parents no matter how unfit they are.

When I was (very briefly in the business) the first order of business after a kid was taken from ‘home’ was to plan to get him back. One kid being abused/neglected out of say 7 in a family was no grounds to do anything with the other six. And don’t even think about placing a black kid with a white family—that is racist.

CPS likely doesn’t have enough foster parents to house all of the potential 14-year-old murders in the city anyway.

Well that was sort of my point. I just wasn’t sure if I should insert the sarcasm tag since it is such a tragedy. But as you said too common an occurrence be it 12, 14, 16 year olds. Kids are raised on the streets what do we expect will become of them?

Since I’m in a typing mood, I’ll tell you a little story. As I noted earlier, I was an urban high school teacher for many years. Well, one day an active shooter was reported in our school. So the school police responded. (We were not permitted to call the city police. And that’s because our corrupt central administration did not want to involve police they could not control.)

So our school police swarmed the building. But here’s the thing. Our school police are unarmed! As a science teacher, I habitually carried a meter stick with me. I was the best-armed person in the building!

Postscript: The armed intruder did enter our building. She was a bank robber. She ran in one door, and out the other. The city police caught her a block away. (Yes, she was a woman.)

Senseless violence is NOT in the streets ... today, nor ever.

Senseless violence is in the deranged hearts and minds of neglected and unsupervised people.

Cue LBJ....and Teddy Kennedy who opened the flood gates in 1965...

Tired of it all.
