Met HRH The Price Philip as a formal function in London, I was the only American to be seated at the head table with him and the rest of the VIPs.

We were waiting to be escorted to the dais and HRH said to me:

HRH: “Say, do you know why Bill Clinton wears underpants?”

Me: Ahh. . .no (confused because this was certainly NOT something you expect to be asked by a Royal, or anyone at that).

HRH: “Well, of course, to keep his ankles warm” . . . then he cracked a grin and chuckled.

That was a funny story...I had no idea about Prince Philip's sense of humor...

James Cromwell played Prince Philip in movie THE QUEEN...Prince Philip was not portrayed as a nice guy in that movie...

I would like to wish him well at this time...He is in the hospital...
