LAS VEGAS – A county board voted unanimously Tuesday to rename busy McCarran International Airport after former U.S. Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada.
The all-Democratic Clark County Commission approved a measure directing the county’s airport staff to file a change with the Federal Aviation Administration renaming the facility Harry Reid International Airport.
The county commission oversees the airport and is the final authority on a name change.
There have been long-standing calls to rename the airport. Its current namesake, Patrick McCarran, served as one of Nevada’s two U.S. senators from 1933 until his death in 1954. He was known for his contributions to aviation along with his anti-immigrant and anti-Semitic views.
Reid, a Democrat and the former Senate majority leader, retired in 2016 after serving 30 years. The proposal was put forward by Commissioner Tick Segerblom, a former chair of the state Democratic Party who announced last week he is again running for the chairmanship.

Just watched Casino again. Good to see Harry, as portrayed by Dick Smothers, as the crooked small time pol he was before he became a crooked big time pol.

How about a Nevada native who gave his life in battle to save others? There certainly are many.
There would be no one more worthy than that person(s).
Verses naming it for Reid, a corrupt lying Senator and head of a criminal enterprise of pure corruption and just as much a racist:

I want a Federal law which bans federal money to any entity for any reason if that entity is named after any politician, alive or deceased (and yes I don’t give a dam which party).
So, let me get this straight. They’re changing the name from one racist, anti-Semitic Democrat to another racist, anti-Semitic Democrat? Okay then.
They should have re-named it Donald J. Trump International Airport.
I was born and raised in Las Vegas. Reid and his fam used to eat Thanksgiving dinner with our fam. I know someone who bought a house in the Las Vegas area and let Reid live in it. Later, he sold it to Reid for way under market value. By these dealings, Reid is worth 100s of $millions$. Pay-for-play corruption. Searchlight Reid was ever proving himself better than his little Searchlight NV upbringing. The old Las Vegas would somehow avoid associating itself with his type. New national culture now.
Reid has pancreatic cancer, but he still continues on.
I miss the old days when Nevada was a 100% red state.
It doesn’t get renamed without FAA approval!
