A Strong Mexican economy would curtail immigration to the US from the south.

Tell you what. If Messico is smart, they’ll build a bunch of coal fired plants along our southern border. Then sell the electricity to the USA at an increased rate.

Problem is, they would have to get control of the areas south of our boarder from the cartels.

I thought that ALMO was going to be a disaster for Mexico. He apparently has done a pretty good job.

Mostly Spanish blood, nice weather, and not full of guilt.

I won’t need to if we stay on this trajectory.

"As the climate crisis worsens, ..." - David Agren

OK, David, please show me on this chart where the climate crisis worsened.
Better yet, show me where it began.

So when energy intensive US industries start relocating in Mexico will the government managed trade Freepers insist that we tax imports from Mexico? The US was on its way to world wide predominance in petro chems and energy intensive industries. New chemical weapons plants were going up at a rate of $Billions per year.

When that all packs up and leaves please remember not to blame freepers who espouse free trade principals. Left alone the US would lead the world in manufacturing.

The next thing to tee up is to restrict exports of hydrocarbons. Hah that means cheaper prices for US, right? No. Thanks means less incentive to drill. Back to the 70s for us.

“Mexico was once a climate leader – now it’s betting big on coal”

So now it’s a leader in sanity.

Maybe the Cartels could build the coal plants.

Mexico must control the criminal gangs or the gangs must control Mexico. If not Mexico is destined for one of two paths: Fascism and dictatorship or Full on Communism, Mao style.
Mexico will resolve itself though revolution and blood, as it always has. What is the old saying? “Poor Mexico, so far from God, so close to the United States.”

Maybe. Realizing AGW (the climate crisis) is a scam is smart. Utilizing national resources to energize your nation is a wise thing to do, but the more the government is involved, the more inefficiency, sloth, & corruption will occur.

Chavez & Maduro nearly destroyed the oil industry & utilities services are a nightmare in Venezuela. Obrador could do just as bad in Mexico.

When will politicians figure out that government run ANYTHING never functions as well as private enterprise?

"As the climate crisis worsens..."

Total B.S. premise. The socialists' sophistry allows them to frame ANY unusual event as part of a "worsening climate crisis".

Wildfires made worse by crappy forest management? "Worsening climate crisis".

Power grid failures due to buying crappy foreign equipment? "Worsening climate crisis".

Too warm? "Worsening climate crisis".

Too cold? "Worsening climate crisis".

Air too dirty? "Worsening climate crisis".

Air too clean? "Worsening climate crisis".

Too many terrorists? "Worsening climate crisis".

Too much poverty? "Worsening climate crisis".

Too much racism? "Worsening climate crisis".

[Insert your favorite problem here] "Worsening climate crisis".
