Why, what an interesting concept......let’s compare Texas to Wisconsin
What about Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota?
They too had minimal problems because they did not allot 25% of their power production to crap sources such as wind and solar. It’s not that hard to do.
Or Illinois, or Iowa...humming right along with plenty of wind energy generation down to -25F, thanks to properly designed systems with de-icers. And grid interties that do no purport to be “independent”.

I think the concept is to prepare/build for the worst possible conditions.. While relatively rare, Texas can expect some serious conditions from time to time and it bit them.
