IRVING, Texas - Irving police are investigating what led a former staffer of Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne to commit suicide outside her home Wednesday afternoon.
The congresswoman and others were inside the home at the time. Police said they heard a single gunshot, then saw the man lying on the ground outside, and called 911.
Van Duyne released a statement Thursday acknowledging she’s known the man for years, and he’s been to her home several times for holiday parties and get-togethers.
But why he did this is still unknown.

Congresswoman lived in a gated community...Police is not sure how he got inside...I guess he really wanted to kill himself in front of her home...He was so determined that he figured out a way to get inside...
It is possible for some guy to be attracted to a woman in "a position of power"...She is a member of Congress...
Was he Asian or from Chechnya? If so, it’s a cultural thing. I’ve heard of them courting toll-booth workers!
No, he was American. I have no idea of his heritage.
