No, but they were fed info (with plenty of disinformation mixed in) by enemies of Trump. My guess? DNC. But the kids running the LARP didn’t care as long as it sounded good when someone gave them clues. Some clues were legit, to keep everyone roped in. But the big ones were pure disinfo. They hurt Trump badly. Especially these:

“Trust Sessions!”
“Trust Wray!”
“The midterms are safe!”

And a gazillion dupes believed. And sat on their hands instead of burning upnthe phones to their senators saying “Trump needs to fire ___!,” and marching on DC with pitchforks.

When Q failed badly and Trump lost, finally a bunch did gather in protest in DC, but it was too late.

So yeah, likely the DNC, maybe with Fusion GPS involved. Seeding info to the Q chan kids. And boy, did it work.
