Shower Pressure Fixed -
After installing a new Pressure Tank to solve rapid cycling of Pump - I got good pressure in the Shower for just 3- 4 minutes. I had previously removed the water restrictor in the Shower Head to try to get better flow. However, the high flow gave me good pressure at the beginning of the Shower but as time went the pressure in the tank got lower and lower but not low enough to turn on the pump. The FIX - put in a smaller restrictor (3/32" diameter hole). Now I get more than adequate pressure and a much slower drawdown of pressure in the tank. Try to start the shower right after the pump has cycled and I could shower for 15 minutes.
ClockDoc, facetman -
My new Reserve Tank is 30 gallons with a Bladder and Schrader Valve. My Pump Control is set at 22 psi ON and 45 psi OFF. I prefer to go easy on my Pump and Piping System. The Reserve Tank is set at 20 psi. It takes my Pump about 30 seconds to go from 22 psi to 45 psi in the Reserve Tank.
All facets except the Shower are very adequate. As I explained - restricting the water flow at the Shower Head gave me a nice spray that lets me shower for plenty of time (15 minutes +) without the Pump Cycling. My normal shower is 7 or 8 minutes.
It’s similar to placing your thumb over the end of a Garden Hose and extending the spray distance from 3 feet to 25 feet.
Good discussion. Thank you.
