I was in the car with my dad on our way to Myrtle Beach from Metro Detroit for some golf, etc. when he said somethhing like, “I want you to hear this guy, and I think you’ll really like him and his show”. That was in early February of 1990 somewhere along southbound I-75, probably in southeast Ohio and the first time ever heard the Maha Rushi on “live”.
The last time I heard Rush was during a live broadcast of his show in early February of this year, 31 years since the trip to Myrtle Beach and exactly half my life ago.
I may have another 31 to go or just another three or four, who knows?
Today, I know that Rush Limbaugh and the EIB will have meant to me as much as anything else happening in my lifetime that was extraordinarily good, and because of the way I gravitated towards it and paid close attention to detail, I think it made me a better person, a better American and a better friend. Maybe none of that is true, but it sure feels that way when I step back and remember where I was 31 years ago.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
RIP RHL III.
Good story; and thanks.
